Medellin forget to score against Racing

Independiente Medellin remain without a win in the Copa Libertadores. Late on Thursday, the Colombian league champions were held to a goalless draw by Racing Club of Uruguay.

After draws with Cerro Porteño of Paraguay and Brazilian giants Corinthians, Medellin were hoping to get their first win against Racing Club in order to climb from third to second place in Group 1.

But in Manizales, where Medellin hosted their guests as their own stadium is undergoing reconstruction, it just was not meant to be for Leonel Alvarez’ side as it had to settle for yet another draw.

As such, Medellin remain in third place in this group with three points from the same amount of games. Racing Club are in second with four points, and the two teams are set to meet again in Uruguay next week.

Corinthians comfortably lead the group with seven points, following Wednesday’s 0-1 win at Cerro Porteño. The Paraguayans are at the bottom of the group with just one point.
