Medellín close to final but Tolima not far behind

by Jonathan Roorda December 8, 2008

Independiente are a big step closer to the final of the Colombian Copa
Mustang II after a 1-0 win over La Equidad, while Deportes Tolima beat
Atlético Nacional to stay alive in this group. Nacional and La Equidad
are eliminated.

The only goal in Medellin was scored in the 28th minute. The home side had been handed several free kicks already, but in this occasion Cuadrado did well to curl his shot high into the right corner of the goal.

Deportes Tolima needed only eight minutes for Arrechea to open the score but Moreno equalised another eleven minutes later.

The winner came at nine minutes from the and, when Arizale rounded the keeper before scoring into an empty net.

DIM have ten points from four games and only Tolima, with seven points, could keep them out of the final.
