McCain to return to Colombia

U.S. Senator John McCain will visit Colombia for the first time after he lost the 2008 presidential elections to Barack Obama, reports newspaper El Tiempo.

According to the newspaper, Senators McCain (R-Az) and John Barrasso (R-Wy) will visit Colombia on Sunday as part of a Latin American tour that also takes them to Panama, Mexico, Chile and Brazil.

With his visit, the Senator hopes to push the approval of a free trade agreement with Colombia and witness efforts of Colombia to overcome a tragic rainy season that left more than 2.3 million Colombians affected, the newspaper write.

The last time McCain was in Colombia, was in 2008, when he was on campaign for the presidency.
