Mayor banned from office for 12 years

A former mayor from the central Colombian Cundinamarca department was banned from holding public office for 12 years for manipulating finances involving public service.

The Inspector General banned Cesar Augusto Jimenez Rubiano, former mayor of the municipality of Fusagasuga for 12 years for manipulating financial information involving public service.

Mayor Jimenez Rubio was also the president of the local public service company EMSERFUSA.

According to the Inspector General, he manipulated the finances of the company to encourage members of the board to allow him to start the process of free competition for bidders for the service.

His direct influence on the decision violated the agreements made between the city council and the public service company EMSERFUSA, reported El Espectador.
