Manizales prepares for international theater festival

Manizales prepares to tread the boards for its 34th theater festival, running from September 1 to 9.

Artists from nearly 50 theater and street-theater ensembles, hailing from all over the world, will show their talents in the western Calda department of Colombia.

Theater will take to the streets of Manizales and there will be public spaces for reflection, live music, lectures, talks and workshops, as well as art and photo exhibitions.

The oldest Latin American theater festival began in 1968 as a space providing freedom of expression for arts and culture, and was put on the National Cultural Heritage List of Colombia in 2004.

The guest of honor this year is the San Martin Theater from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The program allegedly offers unforgettable moments of theater, circus and music “in Colombia – and the world!”
