Mancuso confessed murder of indigenous leader

Extradited AUC leader Salvatore Mancuso confessed Monday his
responsibility in the murder of indigenous leader Kimy Pernia Domico in 2001.

Pernia Domcio, who belonged to the Embera Katio community, was kidnapped in Tierra Alta (Cordoba) on June 2, 2001 by two men who were riding on a motorcycle. Her body was never found.

The order to murder the indigenous leader gave Carlos Castaño, slain supreme leader of the AUC. But it was Mancuso who provided the hitmen, the Prosecution reported.

Mancuso works with Justice and Peace Unit and will not receive a sentence higher than eight years for this and other crimes.
