Bogotá’s trees got a lot of loving Wednesday from about 200 Colombians and foreigners who went around giving their leafy friends hugs as part of a ritual to clean the earth and honor nature.
Trees on the Park Way de la Soledad were especially lucky, as that was where efforts were concentrated this year, which came in preparation for the first International Honoring the Tree encounter, which will take place the 25th and 26th at the Forest University.
“We are goign to have a special ritual to purify the earth and to purify ourselves in the heart of the earth We are searching to create spaces to have very profound reflections about how we can purify our relationship with the earth, where each one of the participants harmonizes their relationship with nature,” Beatriz Arjona, coordinator of the Honoring the Tree program, told Caracol Radio before the event.
