‘Los Paisas’ members sentenced to 20 years

Two members of neo-paramilitary group “Los Paisas” have been sentenced to 20 years and nine months in prison for the murder of a trader in the northern department of Cordoba, El Espectador reported.

Mario Alcides Guerra Brutes and Ever Lopez Pastrana admitted their involvement in the murder which occurred in the Cordoba municipality of Canalete over a year ago on February 6, 2010.

Both men were found guilty of aggravated homicide, aggravated theft, aggravated conspiracy and possession of weapons.

Alongside their sentences, they have been imposed a fine of $100,000, equivalent to the sum of 337 minimum monthly wages, while they will serve their time in the jail in Monteria, Cordoba.
