Leonardo Páez wins Mountain Bike Marathon World Cup

Colombian Leonardo Páez has won the Mountain Bike Cross-country
Marathon World Cup for the second time in his career. In the French
town of Omans, the Boyaca-born cyclist was too strong for Swiss Lukas
Buchli.

A small group took the lead right after the start, and Páez conquered a good position to dominate the race. At a given point, the 26-year-old rode away from his rivals, who would never catch up again.

Páez needed four hours, seventeen minutes and twenty-two seconds to reach the finish, and second placed Lukas Buchli came in more than two minutes later. The third place went to German Karl Platt.

Another Colombian, Julio Caro, finished in fifteenth place at seventeen minutes from his fellow countryman.

For Páez, this is his second marathon world cup victory, after having won the race before in 2006.
