Legendary Colombian singer Helenita Vargas died Monday following weeks in a Cali hospital for respiratory problems, local media reported.
Vargas, known as “La Ronca de Oro” (The lady with the golden husky voice), was admitted to hospital five weeks ago and transferred to the Intensive Care unit in mid January.
Vargas’ illustrious career spanned 50 years, in which she recorded 37 albums.
