Leftist rebel and 2 collaborators plead guilty

A former high-ranking leftist rebel and two collaborators pleaded guilty to providing support to the FARC before a U.S. court.

The two collaborators, Ana Isabel Pena Arevalo and Luz Mery Gutierrez Vergara, joined Nancy Conde Rubio on Friday in admitting to conspiring to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Rubio’s federal court plea to the same charge came last week, six months after she was extradited from Colombia. Prosecutors say Rubio led a finance and supply operation for the Revolutionary Armed Forces, known as FARC.

Prosecutors say that Rubio likely will serve 11 to 12 years in prison and that the other two defendants each face a likely sentence of 37 to 46 months.
