Kidnapped Baby rescued after 24 hours in Santa Marta

A baby girl who had been kidnapped Monday by a 40-year-old woman in Santa Marta was rescued Tuesday by Police, reported Radio Caracol.

The National Police was able to detect the alleged thief, Luz Sandra Palacios, and her partner after only 24 hours and to free the baby safely. Both suspects are already in police custody.

The radio station quoted Department Commander Roque Lara Tello that Palacios had made her neighbors believe she was pregnant and presented the kidnapped baby as her own child. However, those neighbors, showing solidarity to the real mother, reported the case to the police.

“Thanks to the collaboration of the government, community and media you can hold your baby in you arms again after only 24 hours”, Tello told the delighted young mother.
