‘Karina’ will be allowed benefits, says Chief Prosecutor

The Chief Prosecutor’s words are quite different from those expressed earlier by members of the government.Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos, a hardliner within the Uribe administration, had said Monday ‘Karina’ had become “a legend for her cruelty” and “had caused immense suffering amongst Colombians”. According to Santos, the surrender of ‘Karina’ wasn’t as voluntarily as she would like it to appear. “She had no other options left,” he said.Interior Minister Carlos Holguín told Radio Caracol earlier ‘Karina’ made no chance of any benefits “unless she confesses her crimes”. “She is denying everything, as if she was walking around in the jungle, without doing anything,” he said in an interview Tuesday.’Karina’ told the press after she had surrendered the government had promised her to enroll in the demobilization program.
