‘Karina’ denies involvement in death father Uribe

‘Karina’, whose real name is Nelly Ávila Moreno, told the press she took the decision to surrender to the authorities, because of the continuing pressure. She invited other guerrillas to “change they life they lead as guerrilla and take part in the demobilization process and have a civil life.”Juan Manuel Santos, Colombia’s Defense Minister said there were little options left for ‘Karina’. “Surrender was the best thing she could do,” he said.The demobilized guerrilla says she is willing to confess her crimes to enroll in a demobilization program, as promised to her by the government. “I hope they keep their word.” she added.Ávila Moreno denied having committed the atrocities the government accuses her of. “I am not a bloodthirsty woman,” she said. “I have been accused of many things I did not commit.”‘Karina’ surrendered Sunday, together with her boyfriend and three other guerrillas after having been surrounded by army forces.
