Justice must be served to journalist assassins: Human rights group

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) demanded Friday that Colombian officials capture those responsible for the recent murder of a Colombian journalist.

IACHR called on Colombian authorities to “act decisively, and push investigations, prosecution, and appropriate punishment for those responsible…so as to provide fair reparations to the those related to the victim.”

Journalist Luis Eduardo Gomez was assassinated on May 30 while walking to his home in the department of Antioquia.

The statement from IACHR said Gomez was “known for his investigations on public resource management, his involvement in the investigations regarding the death of his son, and his demands for the state to be more involved with these investigations.”
