Junior beat Santa Fé while Nacional lose again

by Jonathan Roorda April 5, 2009

Junior of Barranquilla moved into first place in the Colombian Copa
Mustang following a 3-1 win over Independiente Santa Fé on Saturday,
while Atlético Nacional suffered yet another defeat.

Ricardo Ciciliano was the man of the hour for Junior, scoring the opening goal at 20 minutes. Omar Pérez did level from the penalty spot in the 65th minute but the home side left the best for last.

Teófilo Gutiérrez first restored the Sharks’ lead in the 83rd minute and Ciciliano added a third and final goal near full time.

As a result, Junior are now in first place although several other teams, including Deportivo Cali, could move back ahead on Sunday.

At the bottom meanwhile, Atlético Nacional continue to suffer. The Medellín outfit couldn’t deal with Once Caldas and lost 0-2.

The visitors from Manizales scored the opener through Henry Rojas at 37 minutes and Wilson Mena doubled the advantage just three minutes later.
