Judge halts extradition of ‘Macaco’ indefinately

The Court ruled in favor of an AUC victim  who had demanded that the government met in full with the country’s Justice and Peace Law, a law created to demobilize paramilitary forces, offering lower sentences for cooperation with Justice and reperations for the victims.Victims of the AUC are afraid ‘Macaco’ will only be serving time in jail for producing and trafficking drugs in the U.S. while avoiding having to pay for his confessed crimes against humanity.’Macaco’ was excluded from the benefits from the Justice and Peace law after the government found out the former paramilitary leader was still coordinating crime from his cell. The Uribe Administration previously said it would fight the ruling by all means.
