Colombian singer Juanes won Latin Grammys for “Best Album of the Year” and “Best Long Form Video” in the Las Vegas award ceremony Thursday night.
Juanes’ won the coveted prize of “Best Album of the Year” with his third live album, “Juanes: MTV Unplugged”, beating out competition from Colombian hip-hop group “Choc Quib Town”. The compilation features news takes on hit songs “Me Enamora” and “La Camisa Negra”.
The native Antioquian also took out the award “Best Long Form Video” for a music video also titled “Juanes: MTV Unplugged”.
Fellow Colombian artist Fonseca went home with the Latin Grammy for “Best Tropical Fusion Album”. “Long live Colombia, a country that never loses hope for peace,” said the singer during his victory speech.
Earlier on in the proceedings, Juan Piña accepted the 2012 award for “Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album”.
