Juanes to perform in Cuba

Colombia’s superstar Juanes will do a concert in Cuba’s capital Havana in September.

Obviously the singer fell in love with Cuba last year when he was visiting the islands, walking through the Spanish colonial town of Old Havana and meeting with Cuban officials and musicians, newspaper El Espectador reported Tuesday.

The vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Music, Osmany Lopez, told local media that Juanes “is really enthused” about his concert on the island. The Colombian singer will be accompanied by the troubadour Silvio Rodriguez and other Cuban musicians.

According to the ruling Communist Party, the concert was proposed by Juanes himself which was welcomed “with great interest” by the Cuban authorities.
