Colombia news - Juanes Chavez

Colombian rocker Juanes on Sunday received criticism from supporters of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez after the singer insulted the leftist leader on Twitter.

Juanes jokingly asked if anyone was interested in the pin code to Chavez’s Blackberry, after which he said the code was “H1J0D3PU7A,” which with letters substituted for numbers translates as “son of a whore.”

The singer then reported receiving fierce criticism from supporters of Chavez, claiming said that some of the president’s followers were picking a fight. The Colombian star called on people not to take the joke seriously.

“I made a joke, just like there are many about the same issue,” Juanes said, adding that he will “put on my Twitter whatever the fuck I like.”

In March 2008, Juanes organized a “Peace without Borders” concert on the Venezuela-Colombia border following tensions between the governments of the two neighboring countries.
