Juanes’ concert in Cuba gets competition

Cuban Americans plan to hold a ‘Freedom in Cuba’ concert in Miami on
the same day Colombian singer Juanes will perform his
controversial ‘Peace Without Borders’ show in Havana.

“We pray for freedom in Cuba. Hopefully Juanes will shout ‘viva cuba libre’ on the other side, on the same day, the same time,” journalist Javier Ceriani said during the famous show ‘Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste Arraras’.

The September 20 concert in Miami is organized by Exile Productions that counts on the participation of all artists who wish to join this initiative, Ceriani said. However, the journalist did not reveal details of the event.

Juanes received fierce criticsm for his plan to give a concert in Havana. 47 percent of Cuban Americans oppose Juanes’ planned concert
because they think it helps the communist Castro regime and ignores
Cuban realities such as human rights violation and lack of freedom.

27 percent support Juanes’ plan and say the show would bring needed happiness and music to the island.

The Colombian singer assured that his concert has nothing to do with politics and his message is focused on peace, humanism, tolerance and to interrelate with people.
