Journalist ‘threatened by Colombian drug lords’

Former U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) informant Baruch Vega said that an alliance of drug dealers and guerrillas threatened to kill his sister, journalist Olga Cecilia Vega, news agency Noticias Uno reported Sunday.

“I have first hand knowledge that there is a final peremptory order to disappear my sister from the family,” said Baruch Vega.

Baruch Vega incurred the wrath of Colombia’s organized crime network after he helped arrange the surrender of Colombian drug lords to the U.S. government.

Cecilia Vega said that an order to have her killed was found on the computer of former FARC leader Mono Jojoy. The order accused her of providing information to the FBI and the DEA.

“I did not work for the FBI because they worked for the U.S. government, I have never worked there nor do I currently work there,” she said.

According to Baruch Vega, Colombian authorities are already aware of the threats.

Cecilia Vega also said that her phones calls are being monitored.

“When I called my children’s cell phone, it rang but my children couldn’t hear me and I couldn’t hear them, but if I entered some calls, sometimes someone said, ‘Olga how are you?'”

The Vega siblings said they are currently working to move their families out of the country.
