Joe Arroyo’s remains exhumed, moved to new mausoleum

The remains of famous Colombian salsa singer Joe Arroyo have been transferred from his grave to a new mausoleum, following the request of the singer’s widow, Jacqueline Ramon.

The singer, who died on July 26 this year, has been transferred to a mausoleum especially reserved for the illustrious personalities of the Caribbean Coast.

According to a report by El Tiempo, the transferral of the coffin has set off yet another scandal between the warring factions of the late salsa star’s remaining family. Arroyo’s daughters from his second marriage to Mary Luz Alonso have denounced the exhuming of their father’s remains and have accused their stepmother of “not even consulting us.”

The daughters are opposed to the removal of Arroyo’s remains because they believe it may affect the current investigation of the complaint filed against Ramon for the crime of manslaughter of her late husband.

The removal of Arroyo’s remains was suggested by the Society of Authors and Composers of Colombia as part of a posthumous tribute to Arroyo.

Joe Arroyo, who was one of Colombia’s most famous and influential salsa artists, was buried on July 27 following his death from a heart attack and organ failure.
