Colombia’s producer prices climbed 1.2% in January from a year earlier, fueled by a sharp rise in agriculture prices, the national statistics department, or DANE, said Friday.
For the last 12 months, producer prices in Colombia climbed 4.35%. Heavy rains for the past months have caused massive flooding and killed hundreds of people while damaging thousands of acres of crops. Analysts have warned the damaged crops could push food prices up sharply.
DANE will publish the consumer price data for January on Saturday.
