Italian hostage–abducted in Venezuela–rescued in Colombia

An Italian businessman who had been abducted in Venezuela last week was
rescued by Colombian authorities in Puerto Carreño, close to the
Venezuelan border.

Yoami Michellangello Longhi was abducted October 28 in Puerto Ayachucho, 50 miles south on the Venezuelan side of the border. His captors demanded 10 billion bolivar (US$ 4.65 million) for his release.

The businessman was rescued unharmed in an operation of Colombian armed forces in collaboration with Venezuelan authorities. Two Colombians were arrested.
