Israeli backpacker declared missing in Colombia

A 23 year old Israeli backpacker, last seen in southern Colombia, was declared missing Thursday.

Omri Lahad, known as “Kipi”, was last seen using an ATM in the amazonian town of Leticia on October 28, according to Ynetnews.com.

Lahad is believed to have boarded a boat for Iquitos, Peru, with the intention of spending two weeks in the rainforest.

Israel sent a search team to the area but it found no trace of him. Lahad is from the town of Rosh Pina, and has been travelling since finishing his army service in June.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry is continuing to investigate Lahad’s disappearance in collaboration with embassies in Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Argentina.
