Injured Cordoba drops out of Colombia squad

Inter Milan defender Ivan Cordoba is out of the Colombia squad to face Ecuador and the United States after injuring his left thigh.

Cordoba hurt himself just before half time of Inter’s 0-0 draw with Juventus in Italy’s Serie A at the weekend.

Colombia coach Hernan Dario Gomez is already in the U.S. with an advance squad and has not indicated whether he will call up a replacement.

Colombia plays Ecuador in New Jersey on Friday and then faces the U.S. in Philadelphia on Oct. 12 in preparation for the 2011 Copa America and World Cup qualifiers.

Colombia did not qualify for the World Cup in South Africa. (Associated Press)
