Inflation in Colombia falls in 2009: DANE

Colombian consumer price index grew 2,12% so far in 2009. This is 4.41% lower that in the same period last year when the index grew 6.53%.

The data comes from a statement released Monday by the Colombian department of statistics (DANE), which also says that the comsumer price index fell – 0.11% in September, 2009, that is 0,08% higher than in the same month in 2008.

From October, 2008, to September 2009, the consumer price index had a percent change of 3.21%, DANE reported.

Services and goods that had the highest price level in September 2009 were education (0.31%), health (0.12%), and housing (0,14).

Cucuta and Pereira were the cities with the highest inflation, 0.46% and 0,18% respectively. Neiva had the lowest level of consumer prices, -0,30%.
