Ideologists of illegal armed groups are as guilty of the violence committed against civilians as the military commanders of these groups, Colombia’s Supreme Court ruled Thursday.
The penal chamber of the Court ruled so in the case of Edward Cobo Tellez, alias Diego Vecino, one of the ideological members of demobilized paramilitary organization AUC.
The Court ruled that, even though Cobo did not order crimes committed by his AUC bloc, he will be tried as one of those reponsible for the forced displacement committed by his Bloc.
