Hugo Chavez’s flight to Colombia delayed

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s flight to Cartagena, on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, has been delayed due to technical difficulties.

The president is now expected to arrive in the Colombian coastal city between 2 and 3PM to meet with his counterpart President Juan Manuel Santos.

This is the third time the two heads of state will meet since Santos took office in August 2010, according to Caracol Radio.

Reportedly on the agenda for the meeting will be a discussion about commercial agreements between the neighboring countries.

On March 4, 2011 Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Hoguin traveled to Caracas where the two countries signed 13 agreements focusing on themes of commercial relations, debt relief for Colombian exporters, border security, and technical assistance.

Foreign Minister Holguin announced Chavez’s flight delay Friday from the Rafael Nuñez International Airport in Cartagena, where she is awaiting the Venezuelan leader.
