House Commission investigates Uribe for bribery

The commission will investigate the accusations made by the former congresswoman that she and her former colleague, Teodolindo Avendaño, were bribed to change their vote about a constitutional change needed for Uribe’s immediate re-election in 2006.The commission, consisting of representatives Edgar Ulises Torres, José Gerardo Piamba and Efrén Durán Barrera, will start hearings next week.The commission will have public inquiries into the matter, meaning Uribe will publicly defend himself against the accusations made against him. Medina  and Avendaño, who are awaiting a criminal trial for bribery in jail, will also be heard.Colombia’s Supreme Court already started investigating Uribe and some (former) members of the administration on May 8th.
