Hostage release will be no media show: Córdoba

Colombia news - Piedad Córdoba

The upcoming release of a FARC hostage will not turn into a “media
show”, mediator and opposition Piedad Córdoba assured, after the Colombian government
expressed its concern over the possibility Sunday.

Córdoba said she has no interest in this sense. She told press agency Efe she does not want to “do something similar to what happened with Operation Jaque or the arrest of ‘Don Mario.'”

According to the senator, she is still waiting for the government to hand over necessary details about the logistics to be able to define a time and place for the release of soldier Pablo Emilio Moncayo.

“We are waiting for the government to inform us about the moment that we can have the elements for the logistics (…) the sooner the government says anything about this issue, the sooner we can finish the operation,” Córdoba said.
