FARC hostage release to take place January: Cordoba

The release of three members of the security forces and two local politicians held captive by the FARC will take place at the end of January, mediator Piedad Cordoba told the hostages’ families Wednesday.

“The senator has told us that it will take 30 days and that we should be patient,” the wife of Armando Acuña, one of the two politicians, told press.

The families met with Cordoba and government representative Eduardo Pizarro to hear details about the process of the planned unilateral release.

The FARC recently announced the hostage release to show support for Cordoba, who was barred from holding office for 18 years for her alleged ties to the guerrilla group.
