Hillary Clinton doubts the United States trade agreement with Colombia will be passed this year in a brief interview in Florida.
Clinton spoke from Florida where she is campaigning for Barack Obama to Union Radio, a Colombian radio station under the Spanish Prisa group umbrella. Read the Caracol Radio transcipt:
What do you think of the government and the Congress to correct the financial situation?
That’s a very important question. I think it’s too late. I have been pushing for these kind of actions for nearly two years. But I am supporting what they are trying to do because there is no option. I want to see more support for small businesses… there are people losing their homes and students without the ability to enter schools and universities. We have to focus on Main Street and the people who live there.
What will happen with the free trade agreement between Colombia and the U.S.?
I regret that there wasn’t more discussion about our relations with LA, because I think we have are a lot of serious opportunities and challenges. I don’t know what is going to happen with the free trade agreement. I just don’t know we will get to it.
Would you work with the Obama administration?
Well, I like my job. I like being a senator from New York. And I’m privileged to represent 19 million people in Washington. I prefer to support Obama from my place in the Senate.
What do you think of Sarah Palin?
I think it is exciting to many people to have a woman on the ticket, but that is not reason enough to vote from the McCain-Palin ticket. They don’t offer the kind of changes that we desperately need in our country and Obama and Biden do. I hope the listeners register and vote as soon as they can to change the country.
Parting comment:
I would love to say hello to all of you, I appreciate the opportunity to talk to all of you through this interview. Caracol Radio is doing a great service to give you all information to take an informed decision.
Clinton also criticized president Bush during the interview for not meeting with the president of Spain.
