A 68-year old Risaralda hermit who had spent the past 19 year living in
a subterranean cave in a village near Pereira was moved to an old people’s home
Friday.
The man, driven by poverty, was forced to make the cave his home in 1990 and accepted fleas, mice and even tarantulas as his roommates.
The man, 5’3″ in height with the long white beard and old hat typical of a hermit, was called ‘Cambalache’ by the village people and spent his whole life in solitude, he told Caracol Radio.
The mad admitted to the radiostation that recent times had been a bit “fucked” and accepted the offer of the townspeople and mayor to move to the local old people’s home, where he will have to spend the last years of his life without his insect companions.
