Three members of Colombia’s military, a priest and a helicopter pilot are feared dead after their helicopter crashed in northern Colombia close to the border with Panama.

The helicopter, a Bell 206 Ranger, crashed at approximately 15 miles from the main village of the Acandi municipality.

The helicopter had taken off from Puerto Berrio, some 300 miles southeast of Acandi, where the aircraft was heading.

Local sources have said none of the people in the helicopter survived, but this was not immediately confirmed by the military.

The Colombian Air Force has taken charge of the investigation that seeks to clarify the cause of the accident.
