La Guajira selects candidate for Miss Colombia 2012

The Guajira department in northern Colombia chose their candidate for the national beauty pageant that will take place in November.

Daniela Margarita Vega found out she was crowned Miss Guajira while she was in mass celebrating Saint John Baptist’s day; the saint happens to be the patron of her hometown, San Juan del Cesar.

The 19-year-old brunette, who is also a professional model and has studied acting, is currently studying Social Communication Journalism. She speaks English and says she loves literature and sports.

Vega says she feels she has all the physical and intellectual capacities to represent her department in the Miss Colombia pageant and wishes to highlight the richness and diversity of the Guajira, situated alon the Venezuelan border on the Caribbean coast.
