Govt to investigate alleged Cepeda murder plot

The government has begun an investigation into claims by congressman Ivan Cepeda that two prison guards were paid to kill him.

Minister Juan Esguerra said prison authority Inpec would investigate the case alongside the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Esguerra added, “what happened worries us enormously.”

According to Cepeda, an inmate at the Central Penitentiary handed him a letter that claimed two prison guards, who were in charge of escorting Cepeda on his visit to the prison, had been paid to murder him.
