Colombian Social Welfare Minister Diego Palacio announced Sunday that the government will deliver COP300 billion pesos of the money it owes to Colombia’s ailing health care system.
The government will start to level out its debt to the health care system by providing funds to all 32 departments and four districts of the country, Caracol Radio reported.
Palacio said the nation’s capital Bogota will receive COP29 billion in health care funds.
Government agency Fosyga will be authorized to distribute the funds so that hospitals will have access to the money as soon as possible.
The Colombian government has recently proposed controversial reforms to the health care system, which is on the verge of bankruptcy.
