Colombia’s Inspector General suspended the governor of Putumayo for three months
for alleged embezzlement, local media reported Friday.
Governor Felipe Guzman allegedly embezzled a contract for educational services in Putumayo.
Also the Prosecutor accuses Guzman of misusing his power in the interests of a third party. The governor allegedly helped the joint venture La Caja to obtain the educational contract.
The Prosecutor filed charges against five other officials of the Putumayo government who accepted La Caja as contractor.
Guzman is being suspended for three months. The suspension can be prolonged by another three months while the Prosecutor investigates the case.
