Government seeks 2014 re-election uribe

After months of silence and apparent indifference, the Government
Tuesday asked coalition parties to vote in favor of the re-election of
Colombian President Uribe in 2014.

Coalition senator Samuel Arrieta told newspaper El Espectador Interior and Justice Minister Fabio Valencia Cossio doesn’t want an amendment of the referendum text that could make a 2010 re-election possible.

The referendum was held to demand the 2010 re-election of Uribe, but because of a faulty formulation it could only allow the current president to run for office again after one term.
