Government puts efforts in re-election Uribe

The Colombian Government will work towards the re-election of President
Uribe, Interior and Justice Minister Fabio Valencia Cossio said Sunday.

In an interview with newspaper El Tiempo, the Minister said he will put all his efforts in the approval of the referendum that demands the possibility to serve as President for three terms and the constitutional change needed to make this possible.

“It isn’t a coincidence that after six and a half years the President has such a high approval rate. That is why he is interested in the continuation of the Democratic Security policy,” the Minister said.

Valencia kept the possibility open that Uribe would not run for the Presidency, but support an ally to continue the President’s policy, but says the possibility for Uribe to be re-elected is “important to be included in the constitution.”
