Government opponents trying to discredit Colombia: Santos

Opponents of the Government are intentionally discrediting Colombia
internationally, the country’s vice-President Francisco Santos said
Wednesday.

“[Opposition] senators Rodrigo Lara and Piedad Córdoba are in the United States today and [U.S. Representative] Sam Farr is talking to Monsignor Hector Fabio Henao, Danilo Rueda of an ONG and Jorge Rojas of Codhes. The sad thing is that Colombian politics has moved to the international stage and that the hatred for and aversion of the President that some have are used strategically to go to abroad to talk bad about Colombia,” Santos told W Radio.

According to the vice-President, the critics of the President of being driven by hatred.

“It griefs the country and it hurts that they are using this strategy to get back at Colombia and the president,” Santos added.

The vice-President called on “the Court, the media and everybody to hold the fights here, so that we wash our dirty laundry at home.”
