Government agrees to talk to DMG director

The Colombian government is willing to talk to jailed DMG director David Murcia Guzman, President Álvaro Uribe said Thursday.

A commission made up of representatives of Colombia’s financial and business superintendents, a prosecutor and the DMG executor will be appointed to hold talks with the suspected money launderer about his plans to return the money to the Colombians that invested their savings in his company’s suspected pyramid scheme.

Prosecutor General Mario Iguarán confirmed Uribe has asked his permission to talk to Murcia. Iguarán gave the green light to meet with him to “at least discuss the idea of compensation for victims.”

Murcia, who had threatened to start a hunger strike if the government wouldn’t talk to him, Wednesday proponed to start a commercial holding that would allow DMG investors to have stocks that could help them earn back the money they lost.
