Global hotelier expands into Colombia

U.S. hotel operator Wyndham Worldwide plans to open a new hotel in Colombia, news agency Reuters reported Wednesday.

The American company bought the TRYP hotel brand from Spanish hotel group SolMelia in June 2010 and plans to expand the middle-market brand with new hotels in Colombia, Spain and Portugal.

Wyndham hopes to emphasize the Mediterranean roots of TRYP hotels by offering light Spanish-style snacks, Italian coffee, and exercise equipment in some of the rooms.
