Germany donates €100,000 to Colombia’s Caribbean

The German government donates €100,000 to “Caribbean Evolution,” a project which aims to develop Colombia’s Caribbean region.

“Caribbean Evolution” is an initiative of the University of Bolivar in Cartagena which seeks to unify and coordinate development projects throughout the region. The project’s stated aim is to consolidate Colombia’s Caribbean coast as a prosperous and peaceful region.

“This initiative will travel throughout the Caribbean Colombian with workshops where experts, leaders, politicians, businesspeople, academics and members of society can participate to develop a regional agenda to negotiate with the government and with international aid,” said Adolfo Meisel, the program’s academic coordinator.

Meisel said that the German Foreign Office is interested in this regional process because it wishes to support democratic initiatives.
