Gabriel Garcia Marquez heads to Cartagena for a rest

Colombian literary legend and beloved author of A Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is spending Christmas in Cartagena.

His wife, Mercedes Barcha, says that they plan to spend a significant amount of time on the Caribbean coast. “We’ve been in Cartagena for six days. This is the time we always choose to come to Cartagena and we’re going to stay a little while, about five or six months,” reports The Latin American Herald Tribune.

The world renowned author currently resides in Mexico, but divides his time between Paris, New York, and Cartagena.
