How to support Colombia Reports

Colombia Reports depends on voluntary contributions from readers like you. Without your financial and moral support we would’ve bailed ages ago already.

Why support Colombia Reports

Colombia Reports is the only website in English that dives into the muddy waters of corruption in Colombia, scrutinizes both domestic and foreign politics and is not afraid to step on a few toes.

Colombia does unfortunately not enjoy the freedom of press it deserves. We refuse to conform to this reality and have decided not just defend the freedom of press, but fight to expand it.

Colombia Reports does this because we believe that an independent, critical and sometimes combative press strengthens democracy and ultimately improves the lives of the people of Colombia and its immigrant community.

How to support Colombia Reports

Become a patron

The support we need most is financial. The cost of running a news website in a country where the press cannot count on the protection of the state is high. It’s why many news outlets don’t survive or sell out.

Becoming a patron can cost as little as two bucks a month. For those who can and want to contribute more, we have created perks that will hopefully convince you to step up your support.

This reader patronage allows us to invest our resources in investigating and reporting on stuff we believe is actually important, but commercially unsound.

Make a donation

If you can’t or don’t want to commit to a monthly contribution, you are always welcome to make a one-off contribution. Support like this has helped us fill financial gaps or replace worn-out equipment in the past.

The easiest way to do this is Paypal. For our supporters in Colombia or those who don’t use Paypal, we are currently creating a Vaki account that will allow those without Paypal to make contributions.

Become an editor

Colombia Reports’ readers are also the websites editors, and contribute with corrections, criticism and ideas.

Our reader-based editorial board allows readers to improve the quality of the website, but also indicate what kind of information they need or which stories we are missing.

This interaction has been crucial for the scrutiny of our work and holding us accountable for what we do.

If you want to become a member of our editorial board, please do so. Your feedback is more than appreciated.

Provide moral support

You have no idea how important it is to keep up morale when your work faces opposition or even repression.

If you appreciate our work, let us know and put a smile on our face.
