France and Colombia reinforce cultural ties

Colombian Culture Minister Paula Zapata was in Paris on Monday to sign an agreement with her French counterpart Frederic Mitterrand, aiming to encourage cultural exchanges between their countries, announced the Colombian Culture Ministry.

France and Colombia hope to increase their exchange of cultural management skills, “for example by sending French museum curators to Colombia”, commented the French minister, reports Semana.

Paula Zapata’s visit to Paris also allowed her to present “Colombia diverse”, a series of cultural events taking place in November 2010 in 30 French cities, to promote traditionnal and contemporary Colombian arts. Among the events scheduled is a musical epical dramatic poem celebrating the historical figure of Colombian independence, Simon Bolivar.
