Four police die in helicopter crash

Four Colombian policemen died when their helicopter crashed in the south of the country, close to the border with Ecuador.

The helicopter was on its way to assist the eradication of illicit crops in the southern Putumayo department when it lost contact with the control tower early Wednesday morning.

The helicopter was found ten kilometers south of Villagarzón in the South Colombia department in the afternoon. There were no survivors.

The National Police did not say if the crash was an accident or the helicopter was shot down by illegal armed groups.
